Libertarianism

Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. We advocate for a smaller constitutional government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. We embrace states rights, individual responsibility, property rights, oppose government bureaucracy, needless war, excessive taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market and defend civil liberties. You don’t have to register as a Libertarian or give up your current party to embrace our philosophy of freedom. You might be more of a Libertarian than you realize. Take the World's Smallest Political Quiz to learn just how Libertarian you are and see how you rank. Below are some great videos that will introduce you to the fundamental Libertarian principles.

The basic principle of libertarianism can be described as the following: No one has the right to initiate the use of force or fraud against another. This applies to individuals as well as groups of individuals. A classic article by Ayn Rand explains how this applies to society.

For the historians out there, G. Edward Griffin has written a very detailed series on the modern political battle between collectivism versus individualism.  Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4   Although not all of his views are necessarily the views of members of the LPCC, it shows the true political spectrum versus what the public school teaches about the left versus the right.

One of the founders of the Libertarian Party, David Nolan, created the following chart which describes where libertarians are on a political philosophy map.
